Hi, and welcome to Spruce Acres Red and Black Angus.  Spruce Acres originated in 1994 with the purchase of 2 purebred Red Angus cows, a few open heifers and 6 Hereford heifers by Ross, Joan and Shane Dublanica.  Our family also consists of two daughters, Tina and Tricia, who pursued professional careers.

The herd has grown to about 300 breeding cows with mostly purebred Red and Black Angus cows, plus a few commercials.  We expanded strictly into Angus because of the excellent maternal and mothering ability of the Angus cow.  We purchased Angus heifers from astute purebred breeders and a few select purebred sales.  They were bred to easy calving Angus bulls and culled heavily.

An extensive A.I. program of selecting easy calving bulls for heifers and performance bulls for cows was started a few years ago.  In 2001 we purchased Red Brylor Gold 55H, an A.I. performance sire that puts power, depth, plus extreme length into his offspring.   In 2003 the most magnificent Red Angus bull was purchased with full possession and 1/2 interest of Stallion 19J, the 2001 CAA Gold Show Bull.  Then in 2004, Spruce Acres won the Regina Bull Sale Reserve Grand Champion with a bull sired by our herd sire TK King Colton (King Rob).

After selling bulls off of the farm for many years by private treaty we had our first annual sale in 2003.  Since most buyers view the bulls on the farm, from now on we're having our annual sales on the farm by auction.  This gives the bull buyers equal opportunity to purchase the best genetics of their choice.  We hope to see you on Sunday, March 25, 2:00 p.m. at our annual farm sale, 4 miles north (310 Highway) and 1 1/2 miles east (Bertdale Road) of Foam Lake.
